Doctors at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant, England, are using cell phones to transmit x-rays to orthopedic specialists, as reported by the BBC. They take photographs of the x-rays and send the images over the phones as a picture message.
Use of mobile technology has resulted in cost and time savings for the hospital since they previously sent the images by courier. The BBC report did not identify which brand of phones was being used, yet confirmed they were a donation from “a leading mobile manufacturer.”
